Everything is consistent, the alcohol doesn’t break out, and there aren’t too many spicy notes to disturb us. Then we get chocolate notes, personally associated with Malaga sweets, which are additionally covered with smoke. It is not a dominant note, but a nuance that interested me. Whisky is quite oily, fruity, with notes of leather, earth, distant smoke, but also an aftertaste reminiscent of fish oil or smoked fish in general. There is a lot going on in taste, not as aggressive as in Valkyrie, there is also a lot more sweetness. All this emphasizes its „refreshing” character even more. Also interesting are the notes, somewhat reminiscent of essential oils, those known to us from nasal sticks. Only after some time do the notes of Sherry join the aroma. This whisky is best characterized by its maritime atmosphere, the smell of a seaside forest and leaves. I like the buttery notes that are joined by the salt after a while. This time the aroma is much more interesting and intense than in the previously reviewed edition of Valkyrie. Z czasem fajnie dochodzi jeszcze nuta masła orzechowego, nieco słodkiego ale przełamanego solą. Wszystko jest spójne, alkohol się nie wybija, nie ma też za bardzo jakiś pikantnych nut, które mogłyby nam przeszkadzać. Dalej otrzymujemy nuty czekolady, osobiście kojarzące mi się z pomadkami Malaga, które dodatkowo otulone są dymem.
Nie jest to nuta dominująca, ale taki niuans, który mnie zaciekawił. Whisky jest dość oleista, owocowa, z nutami skóry, ziemi, odległego dymu, ale także posmaku przypominającego mi nieco rybi olej, tran czy ogólnie wędzoną rybę. W smaku dzieje się sporo, nie jest tak agresywnie jak w Valkyrie, jest też dużo więcej słodyczy. To wszystko jeszcze bardziej podkreśla jej „odświeżający” charakter. Interesujące są również nuty, przypominające nieco olejki eteryczne, te znane nam ze sztyftów do nosa. Dopiero po jakimś czasie dołączają do zapachu nuty Sherry. A najlepiej charakteryzuje tę whisky jej morski klimat, zapach nadmorskiego lasu, liści. Podobają mi się te nuty maślane, do których dołącza po chwili sól. The slick black and blue bottle holds a strong smoky, sweet, and spicy Spirit that was matured in American Sherry-seasoned oak casks.Tym razem aromat jest dużo ciekawszy i intensywniejszy niż w opisywanej wcześniej edycji Valkyrie. It’s associated with the Allfather himself and acts as a transition between here and the afterlife.
